God Is Faithful

Posted on December 26, 2017December 22, 2017 by Dara

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”

Lamentations 3:21-24 (ESV)

The moment we open our eyes each morning, the Lord has whipped up a fresh batch of His steadfast love with a large side-order of His mercies. No stale, left-overs from the previous day.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never gone to bed at night wondering if daylight would greet me in the morning. Just as sure as the daylight, we are assured God’s love and mercy await us each day.

I believe our Heavenly Father is excited to see us awaken each morning, just as any good parent greets their well-loved, sleepy-eyed child.

Then the icing on the cake, or the gravy on the biscuit (since we’re talking about mornings) is …

“God is faithful, by Whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 Corinthians 1:9 (ESV)

Jeremiah (in Lamentations) says it this way, “the Lord is my portion.” Paul (1 Corinthians) says we are called into fellowship with Jesus Christ our Lord. The Lord is not just a part of life but He is life. He’s not only with us at church or while we read the Bible or pray. He’s with us in the nitty-gritty, the good and bad, and all of the moments of life.

With all of the uncertainty we face each day, on this we can hope; God is faithful. His love and mercies are constant.

What a way to wake up.
