What Is God Like?

Posted on January 2, 2018December 31, 2017 by Dara

I have heard people ask, “What is God like?” I have heard some say, “We cannot see Him so how can we know?”

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God…”

Hebrews 1:3 (NLT)

We know what God is like by looking at Jesus. He radiated God’s glory and expressed the very character of God.

“I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.”

John 5:30 (NLT)

Jesus did not come to do what He wanted to do, but He came to do the will of His Father.

The disciples asked Jesus to show them the Father. He said, “When you have seen me, you have seen the Father.” John 14:9 (NLT)

“…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

Acts 10:38 (NKJV)

This scripture makes it clear what God is like. “He went about doing good and healing all… for God was with Him.” Jesus only did good things for people, and God was with Him all the way.

When Jesus entered a room, the atmosphere changed; expectancy was in the air.

News of Jesus’ goodness traveled, even without the internet. Wherever Jesus went, sick people flocked to touch Him. Children ran to him for attention. Jesus never turned anyone away; He had time for everyone.

The only harsh words Jesus spoke were to the religious hypocrites.

Jesus changed everything for the good.

“…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10 (NKJV)

So what is God like? What is He thinking? What does He want to do in my life?

These questions are all answered by taking a look at Jesus; and the answers are all good.
