You Never Know Where It’s Been

Posted on March 23, 2016 by Dara

Solomon, my Golden Retriever, was chewing. Not a good sign.

He should only be chewing twice daily while standing in front of his food bowl or when receiving a treat for an act of obedience, a trick, or a bribe. It was none of these occasions so it was time for investigating.

I don’t know if you ever have the pleasure of digging into a large, drooling dog’s mouth but I am highly trained in this activity.

After chasing my pup down and prying his jaws open, I went in for the object. A 20 dollar bill, to my surprise. Earlier, my newspaper carrier came to my door and I had quickly rummaged in my purse for cash. I left money strewn on the couch, obviously forgetting I had a dog whose breed is Retriever.

As gently as possible, I removed the soggy 20 from Solomon’s mouth and looked inside for more. Though I didn’t see anything, I wondered if this was his first 20 or if he had already ingested other bills. I wasn’t sure how much cash I had left on the couch so this is a mystery never to be solved.

I must say Solomon is a wise one, living up to his name. There were some dollar bills lying on the couch along with the 20’s, but he seemed to have gone straight for the largest bill he could find.

The 20 nicely dried and I placed it in my purse to get it back into circulation. Some unsuspecting soul eventually received the 20 dollar bill and on it went from there.

You never know where your money has been. If your mother is like mine, she told you this fact and left it up to your imagination. Now when you wonder where your money has been, I have left you with one possible answer.
